Not sure if this helps: Printers in my network that are connected via USB or Samba protocol can apparently be deleted, or have their properties edited. Printers using ipp protocol cannot, even if they have been taken off line. Right-click menu options are greyed out, and the "change" buttons in the property dialog boxes are greyed out too. Logging in under sudo doesn't seem to have any effect.
