Just tried it and it doesn't work.  Our servers are running a pretty new
version of Novell OES.  A co-worker found some information that this
problem was related to a character set issue in the kernel - something
related to UTF-8 support not being enabled by default on OES or
something.  Sorry I was never able to track down the information he was
referring to.  Without confirmation, the techs weren't excited about
trying to enable that setting on our OES servers (for a couple Ubuntu
developers having a problem).
