I wish I knew :-( This happens at least once a day but only when awstats
runs from a cron job (when I run the script manually, the bug is never
reproduced).
Related bugs are 564522, 571971, 572674, 576828, 581383, 584115, 585042.
This is the script that runs from cron:
#!/bin/sh
for i in /etc/awstats/awstats.*.conf; do
echo $i
SITE=`echo $i | sed "s!/etc/awstats/awstats.!!g; s/.conf//g"`
TARGET="/home/stats/$SITE"
AWSTATS="/usr/share/doc/awstats/examples/awstats_buildstaticpages.pl
-config=$SITE -awstatsprog=/usr/lib/cgi-bin/awstats.pl -dir=$TARGET
-builddate=%YYYY%mm"
mkdir -p $TARGET
$AWSTATS -update
done
It operates on log files that are typically 100-110 MB.
