  Binary package hint: ubiquity

Okay, so, I've been trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 repeatedly over the
past few days, and been running into the same error - the grub2 install
  goes horribly, horribly wrong.

This time, I decided to try ext4 instead of ext3 with 8GB swap.

That obviously didn't work. But I did finally find a nice, shiny 'report
bug' button. So here we are.

  Description: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
  Release: 10.04

I expected it to install Ubuntu onto a 320GB WD3200KSRTL hard drive. One
ext4 partition filling the whole drive. I have an EVGA 780i SLI
motherboard, and another hard drive of mine recently died, if that helps
  any.

Instead, it hit the point at which it was supposed to install the
bootloader, choked, told me it wasn't able to, I picked 'install without
a bootloader,' and then it crashed and kicked me to a live session. This
has been happening repeatedly, with multiple partition sizes and types,
using both a gparted LiveCD followed by the Ubuntu LiveCD, just the
Ubuntu LiveCD with the included version of gparted, in a live session,
straight from boot... The list of things I tried goes on and on. And I'm
sure the hard drive is fine.

Oh, and sometimes when I go to Disk Manager, the hard drive either
changes from /dev/sda to /dev/sdb, or disappears entirely. I think that
  might be related. :P
