Things I have found out: "Independent HP" means independent headphones.
When the main output is getting muted, the headphone output is grey in alsamixer. I assume this means that the card did not detect headphones connected to the socket. Before the bug happens, the headphone output is not grey. I assume that means the card thinks headphones are connected. Under 2.6.32-22-generic the "Independent HP" switch is permanently set to "off." Other than that, everything else is the same. So it looks to me like there are multiple bugs here. First, the card cannot accurately tell when headphones are plugged in. Secondly, when it thinks headphones are not plugged, the driver incorrectly mutes the speaker output, instead of the headphone output. And thirdly, the "Independent HP" switch does not work in 2.6.32. -- Main sound mixer mutes automatically every few seconds https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/582234 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
