Adding _netdev makes a little difference in the messages, but still unable to boot normally.
I no longer get the mount errors displayed above, but get this: init: mythtv-backend main process (866) terminated with status 254 init: mythtv-backend main process ended, respawning It stalls there. Still unable to proceed past that point with cifs drives not commented out. I comment them out and everything works fine. I uninstalled wicd, thinking that might be the problem. I defined a static ip in /etc/network/interfaces, still the same problem.
