There are a number of hard disk errors on /dev/hdb (one of your hard
disks) towards the end of your syslog. This generally indicates a faulty
hard disk, or sometimes a kernel bug, rather than an installer bug as
such. It may help to check whether the hard disk is old and in need of
replacement, or to move the system to a cooler environment.
