Jeremy, I'm sorry I didn't respond to your earlier comments sooner.
This issue has existed since before Hardy, and in multiple distros (not just Ubuntu). Unless there's some reason to think the latest release fixes it, asking me to keep retesting for no supportable reason is kinda annoying. Asking me to run apport or install a newer kernel when it won't complete an install is also pretty annoying. Go ahead and close the bug if you want, but it feels like you're trying to boost bug stats rather than solve an issue. If you have a suggestion on how I can file more information given that it won't complete an install, I'm all ears. I suppose I could install to an IDE drive, then add the SATA interface and try to trip the same errors when it's not the root drive. Adding that extra layer of complexity maybe not helpful though.
