Hi, the same here with Ubuntu 10.4 amd64, hplip installed, printer HP Business Inkjet 1200. Yellow background when printing hp scanned pdf's (scanned in windows, no linux driver) with adobe reader. The fix by vxxxzy solved this problem for me, too. Many thanks!
