Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gparted
LIVE-CD offers three or four OPTIONS of partition-management,
The LAST option is described, roughly, as
"do your own partition management BY HAND, this is
dangerous".
When you choose this option, a GPARTED screen opens and you can mark the
existing partitions with
"mount points" and format/do-not-format.
(As I recall, I marked one partition for mounting as "/" and one other
as "swap").
AND THEN COMES A VERY UNHELPFUL MESSAGE, something like
"Your partitions marked with mount-points are in danger of being
destroyed."
A BETTER COMMUNICATION WOULD BE:
First: "Any partition that you marked in the preceding screen with a
"mount-point"
WILL BE OVERWRITTEN AND ALL INFORMATION IN THAT PARTITION WILL
BE LOST
Second: WHY NOT SHOW A FULL LIST OF ALL PARTITIONS SAYING stuff like:
/dev/sda1 [ntfs] 80 GB will be left untouched and undamaged
/dev/sda2 [ext3] 3GB will be left untouched and undamaged
/dev/sda3 [ext3] 25 GB will be left untouched and undamaged
/dev/sda4 [ext4] 75 GB
is marked for mounting as "/" and
will be REFORMATTED as "EXT4"
AND ALL INFORMATION ON THIS PARTITION WILL BE
OVERWRITTEN and LOST
/dev/sda5 [linux-swap] 5GB i
is formatted already as LINUX-SWAP and
will be used as the LINUX-SWAP partition
AND ALL INFORMATION ON THIS PARTITION WILL BE
OVERWRITTEN and LOST
