I encountered this error when updating from home where I don't have a
proxy server. At some point after the files were downloaded and the
update began, I received the error message. The next day when I was in
the office where I do have a proxy server, I updated another application
and the kernal update completed successfully. I'm not sure why, but I
sometimes have conflicting proxy details set even though I've checked
the network and apt-get proxy are set correctly.

Since the update completed, this defect report can be close. Thanks.
