Gnometris responds very slowly

Quadrapassel block movement takes 1 to 2 seconds to respond to the keyboard
cursor commands. Too slow in response to play the game. Previous version
under karmic koala worked fine. Also, the blocks move by a full step followed
by a 1/2 step, which is not proper.
