As far as I understood, the problem is, that fixing this bug would require the addition of new packages which have not been tested with lucid, yet and this would be a violation of the release procedure. IMHO especially for a LTS version just breaking an important server feature (sharing printers) is important enough to make an exception and introduce these packages after the release.
