Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
File .desktop issue has fixed in Debian.
Changelog entries since current maverick version 0.3.5-1ubuntu1:
battery-stats (0.3.6-1) unstable; urgency=low
* New upstream release that integrates a patch to specify the battery

+ Standars-Version bumped to 3.8.3
