I am having a somewhat similar experience in Lucid. This is on a laptop with non-standard and not fully known hardware, 7 years old and sold in South Africa under a name I couldn't find elsewhere (euroTeK).
What happens is that kde installs, but login fails in exactly the same way as described here. I have tested the following: installed kubuntu: login screen appears fine, type username and password, icons start appearing, just when you think that login has completed, BANG, back at the login screen. I have also installed kde from Lucid itself. So the login screen in gnome, but I set the session to kde. When I try to login, the kubuntu screen (blue, with dots) appears, and then the icons and then it fails (as far as I can tell, in the same place as under kubuntu proper). -- Karmic Cant login in KDE, but in GNOME https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/527478 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
