Thank you for providing detailed steps to reproduce the problem. I
think the use case described is not a common one (for one thing gnome-
shell is merely a universe component in Lucid, and not something being
actively targeted at this time afaik), but that said, the general issue
of this failing when changing between the two seems like a legitimate
issue.
Would you mind checking if this misbehavior still occurs with Lucid?
