it is just a guess, but could the famous flashplugin bug #410407 cause
this?

** Description changed:

i updated my karmic a few weeks ago to lucid and for roughly 10 days or so my
keyboard stops working suddenly every other firefox-session. i minimize the
window, open it again and the keyboard works again. my sister is having the
same problem, we both use a hp pavillion dv 6000 series computer.
i am not completly sure if i use the xorg package, but it is most likely.

greetings and thanks for the support,
  Monika
