Ah your right about the man page. (and http://www.camrdale.org/apt- p2p/install/) I don't know how I missed it before when I tried setting apt-p2p up on the servers at work. I started working the issue after reading that I wasn't the only one not understanding how to setup the system (Bug #308290). I realize this may be a silly mistake, but I've always been of the mind that if an application is hard to understand it is the apps fault, not the user. Ubuntu has made huge strides in that direction, and that is the reason so many non technical people are picking it up.
apt-p2p is a great application. I think that it would ease the a lot of the slow downloads I've come across when updating/installing packages. However the fact that I did spend several hours trying to figure it out, tells me that the "how to use this" wasn't obvious enough. Fact is that it has been so long since I worked on this I can't remember all the details. After it didn't just work the way I thought it did, I could have moved along, but I didn't. I see apt-p2p potential and I would like to see it more widely adopted. This simple addition to the README would have fixed my simple oversight, so I would like to think it might help others (I wouldn't have said anything if I hadn't come across others with the same issue) If we can make this as simple as possible to use by the avg joe (many who don't know what a man page is) then it could become a great hit among users. I would love to help out with usability issues (I'm a great idea guy and guinea pig ;) Perhaps this is not the fix that is needed. Maybe a gui that helps for desktop users, or an install script that gives the user an option to automatically change their sources.list file (with a back-up of course).
