Installing gnome-panel (1:2.30.0-0ubuntu2) below seemed to solve most
of the issues. The clock applet still gives the error message even
after the killall trick.
Additionally I found out several GNOME_*.server files with dummy content. The
following files were full of 0xFF (possibly due to interrupted download the
other day?):
/usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_Speech_SynthDriver_Speech_Dispatcher.server
/usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_SeahorseApplet.server
/usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_Panel_WirelessApplet.server
/usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_Panel_TrashApplet.server
Overall I am pretty happy with the currently working functionality, the
clock applet will be there some day.
/usr/share/doc/libpanel-applet2-0/changelog.Debian.gz
gnome-panel (1:2.30.0-0ubuntu2) lucid-proposed; urgency=low
* debian/patches/90_git_new_unhidden.patch:
- git change to fix an issue leading to new gnome-panel bars not being
displayed until restart (lp: #525368)
