Solved for me. On advice from other bug reports and app-port, I installed the linux- image-2.6.32-0206321505-generic kernel fromhttp://kernel.ubuntu.com /~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.32.15.5-lucid/ and found the error messages continued. Further reading led me to a link where it was stated that the Ath5k MAC layer had been reworked in the 2.6.32 kernel so I chose to try linux-image-2.6.34-020634-generic from http://kernel.ubuntu.com /~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.34-lucid/ and so far the messages have ceased and the laptop seems stable.
I've not tried the wireless as of yet as my AP is locked to A mode and this chipset is B/G only. I guess I have to figure out how to get into my AP and activate the B/G side. As near as I can tell, this issue is from upstream and has been fixed in upstream's 2.6.34 release. -- [52.118558] ath5k phy0: noise floor calibration timeout (2412MHz) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/427439 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
