rt2570 was one of the serialmonkey legacy drivers which, as your error message states, isn't designed to work with SMP kernels.
rt2500 is from the bleeding-edge serialmonkey CVS drivers which are more compatible with SMP. They are, at best, alpha quality and often broken in their operation. I understand ubuntu's motive in moving to the newer drivers but I don't think the timing is good. With less than one month to release of Feisty there's every chance that they won't be in a working condition when that happens. You could revert to 2.6.20-9 for more stable support with the legacy drivers that ubuntu shipped. -- linux source 2.6.20-11 https://launchpad.net/bugs/93345 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
