I can confirm this bug, even in Ubuntu 10.04 dzen2 comes without XFT
support.
$ dzen2 -v
dzen-0.8.5, (C)opyright 2007 Robert Manea
It should output this instaed:
dzen-0.8.5-svn, (C)opyright 2007-2009 Robert Manea
Enabled optional features: XFT
** Changed in: dzen2 (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Confirmed
