Actually I only uninstalled the headers after trying with them. the indatll failed during configuration. When I tried to configure the player myself it died. But just in case I was misremembering I tried again this morning. I uninstalled vmware player and then attempted to reinstall it using apt-get install vmware-player. Apt did bring in the required headers but the install still failed here's a file with the messages I got.
Also, I checked with adept and vmware-player modules as well as the correct header files show as installed. my kernel shows as: Linux escher 2.6.20-11-generic #2 SMP Thu Mar 15 03:43:56 UTC 2007 x86_64 GNU/Li nux -- installing vmware-player failed https://launchpad.net/bugs/74072 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
