What a nightmare, didn't even know what to search for with this one, "Ubuntu 10.04 boot videocard crash colored lines" finally got me to this thread. I couldn't even get the boot options up before the crash, tried the usual "esc", "ctrl+alt+F1", etc, didn't know you had to hold down Shift now.
