--My userid is a member of group " cdrom " and gnomebaker as a
substitute works fine as indicated above. I've already uninstalled
Brasero but would be willing to reinstall if you need further
testing/info.

--My CD burner is physically attached as IDE Slave, with a 20-gig HDA as
Windows; rest of the drives are SATA

attached -- the 2 partitions found by Brasero are currently unmounted /
unused space.
