I noticed this problem about a week or two ago, tops. My system is 10.04, and upgraded to it from 9.10 within the week of 10.04's launch. The problem is random and apparently non-reproducible. For me, it seem to affect the mouse's scroll button as well. Scrolling starts to act like the forward/back buttons in the web browser. When the keyboard is acting up, when typing in the search bar in Firefox, pressing the comma- key highlights what I have just typed and deletes it. This happens with both a MS wireless keyboard and mouse, and with a corded IBM keyboard and Logitech G5 mouse.
