I've searhced on thr forums where it seems that this could be related to fglrx drivers. To be clear: If I suspend, then hit the power button (on my desktop AMD64) the disks turn but the screen remains in standby. Then, if I hit Ctr-Alt-F7, the screen becomes active but blank. This means that I cannot power down my disks when I'm not at the machine and must shutdown - it's a real pain...
