Hello Exquisite Dead Guy! I believe this bug should be fixed in version
2.0 and later of Software Center, which is currently part of the final
release of 10.04 the Lucid Lynx. In these later versions, the various
Edit menu items that correspond to the search field will only become
sensitive when the search field itself is focused. With this fix in
place, the particular error that you encountered in this bug should no
longer be possible.
Of course, please be sure to reopen this bug if you do encounter it
again. And please don't hesitate to report any other bugs or issues
that you encounter.
