Many thanks for that. I have tested the new versions of Ubuntu and of Openoffice on this problem, and can report that the problem still exists. When I change the printer settings from the default of Letter to A4, which is the standard in Europe, the Openoffice view of the document does not change. The result is that, if several more keystrokes are not used to set up the paper size for the document, its layout on the page is different from that shown on screen. Paul Lowther
