It does work fine for a newly created user.
If the configuration is broken then it's something that has happened during the
upgrade process, it was fine before.
Right-clicking on shortcuts in Places does the same thing as left-clicking: it
tries to open the link (and fails).
I opened a nautilus window and changed the "Open with" to nautilus, but this
has not helped.
