Ok, back with more info. I was unable to get past the soft lockup in any fashion, except booting from a LiveCD. Then, I did the following:
----- $ sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/hostap-utils.conf Comment out the following line: # blacklist orinoco_pci ----- After doing this, I was able to boot normally and could remove the package if I wanted to. I'm unable to figure out why blacklisting orinoco_pci causes a soft lockup. I'm unsure what else I can provide to help. -- 'hostap-utils' causes soft lockup when booting lucid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/573472 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
