I've been experiencing this problem ever since the upgrade to 10.04. I did not experience it with 9.04. Thanks to Mike for noticing the SD card connection: Indeed, with an SD card installed, machine stays powered with a black screen (backlight still on). No SD card, suspend works. I'll try to collect more data, but I think this bug needs to remain alive.
