This issue affects my computer, too. It is an Acer Travelmate 5730 series,
lspci output attached.
I am having a bunch of troubles since updating to 10.04, unfortunately:
Virtualbox kernel modules do not load occasionally, sound does not load
occasionally and if that happens the shutdown panel applet only logs me out (I
can shutdown via terminal then, though). I don't want to span this bug with
unrelated things but as I don't know what might be important I try to give
descriptive hints of everything non-normal on my system install.
More specifically, Ubuntu freezes when I use Firefox to read www.sportschau.de
(the sports section of a German news site, with audio and video content), that
is fairly reproducible, it might take a few attempts but finally it will
happen. I installed chromium and no problems there. Freeze means the whole
desktop session is unresponsive, keyboard as well (caps lock indicator light
not working). However, the mouse is working, and programs are still running,
e.g. banshee music player or skype voip calls. Processor fan starts running
high, so the processor seems to be busy with something.
lspci output attached, if you point me to anything, I will happily provide more
technical output.
Cheers, Rene
