I installed "linux-backports-modules-wireless-lucid-generic" version
2.6.32.23.24 and rebooted. "modinfo rt2860sta" is reporting, that I use
the new driver (version 2.1.0.0). So installation seems successful. Now
I will have to test the connection extensively.

And I already found a quirk: The new driver doesn't support wireless "n" on my
eeePC 1000h. Max. speed is 54 Mb/s. :-(
The correct configuration file ( /etc/Wireless/RT2860STA/RT2860STA.dat ) is
existing.
