Leo, you can close Bug Report #594697.

I could not boot from either the Generic or the Recovery mode following
your instructions, as indicated in my reply to you on 06/15/2010.  Then
I tried removing the Grub entry vga=799. The machine still would not
boot from Generic, but did boot from the Recovery mode.

I found that fglrx had been removed during the update that started this
Bug Report.  Restoring this did not correct my problem.  What did
correct it was reinstalling Catalyst.

Thank you for your concern and help.  I hope that this will be of value
to others.
