Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.
The USB boot disk should function exactly the same as the Live CD: it
should not ask you for a password, but automatically log in. Are you
sure your computer actually booted from the USB drive (and didn't just
boot an existing Ubuntu install)? The default user/pw for the Live CD is
"ubuntu" with a blank password, you can try that.
Can you see if the problem is still present in the final release of
Lucid? Thanks.
