I got this today when trying to install enough of Java to get the JVM for my browser. It is critical for me because I can't set up a federal government database access account without it.
The problem seems to be the improper handling of a dialogue box that Sun has attached to the software needing a yes/no response. The apt install package seems to be sending it a no, with the result that the package becomes disabled. Maybe a consultation with Sun Microsystems would be useful instead of trying to crack this on our own? -- package sun-java6-jdk (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/585663 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
