Public bug reported:

Upon installation the xorg.conf shows 1440X1440 instead of 1440X900, and
a "dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg" doesn't fix it. Easy to solve,
of course, but it means you can't choose the resolution without editing
the xorg.conf file.

My xorg.conf:

Section "Screen"
        Identifier "Default Screen"
        Device "nVidia Corporation G71 [GeForce 7900 GT/GTO]"
        Monitor "W19-1"
        DefaultDepth 24
        SubSection "Display"
                Depth 1
                Modes "1440x1440" "1280x1024" "1280x800" "1152x864"
"1024x768" "832x624" "800x600" "720x400" "640x480"
        EndSubSection
        SubSection "Display"
                Depth 4
                Modes "1440x1440" "1280x1024" "1280x800" "1152x864"
"1024x768" "832x624" "800x600" "720x400" "640x480"
        EndSubSection
etc...
