Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20
Having read through and tried all solutions to the problem of a
recognized intel-hda soundcard that did not produce sound through the
onboard speakers, the ONLY thing that worked was setting kernel option
acpi=ht in the grub menu.lst.
It appears that this sound problem is not in alsa-kernel or alsa drivers
but rather is located in the acpi kernel modules.
