Tried with latest development kernel 2.6.35-999: The "Error probing
SMB2" disappeared on the ASUS M3N78-VM.

However, I do not recommend to use that kernel for production use (see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/MainlineBuilds ).
