Suspend to RAM fails in Kubuntu 10.04 64bit on my PC (ASUS M2A-VM HDMI, 1GB RAM). Sometimes suspended to RAM works the first time, sometimes not. Then failure is more common. In my case, I think everything is related to RAM and Swap, and how they work. I have only 1GB of RAM. I changed the swappiness from 60 to 30 to reduce the Swap usage, and since then, Suspend-Resume problems were significantly reduced.
