Sorry, the process can be a bit confusing if you're not used to it. To install the current mainline kernel: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.35-rc3-maverick/ Download the _all headers, the i386 headers, and the i386 kernel, and then install them in that order by double-clicking them. You should then be able to select it in grub (hold down Shift while booting to get there).
You should also try the xorg-edgers PPA: https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa To install: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ppa-purge sudo apt-get upgrade To revert: sudo ppa-purge xorg-edgers -- [i945g] X fails to start https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/586090 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
