If this is still an issue please download and run the script from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/bootinfoscript/ and attach the results.
Also Ubuntu has moved to grub2 for fresh installs of 10.04, which is the
new LTS release. If you could try that, it would likely resolve this
issue as well.
