Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdegames
I can remember I had this problem in Debian before, it was very similar to this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/debian/+source/ksudoku/+bug/135538 Now it hits the Ubuntu world, too. After upgrading from Karmic to Lucid it ALWAYS has the wrong level. It seems as if all levels have been degraded, the easiest one was for beginners before, now it's for babies almost. The hardest level really was hard before, now the hardest level is similar to the 2nd level before (1 after beginners). It's not a critical bug, because it's playable, but if it's too easy there's no fun to play it, so in my opinion I'd call it unusable. BTW, I have this on different machines after upgrading to Lucid, the only common thing between them is 32bit release. I haven't tested it with 64bit right now. Maybe there's a magic trick e.g. get rid of anything below $HOME/.kde and the games are hard to solve again? (And no, I'm far away from being a good sudoku player, this whole thing has nothing to do with my skills...)
