Thanks for your report.
I made few tests and I agree that fc-match results are not really what a user
would expect. I don't have the same fonts as yours so I can't specifically say
anything about fc choice in your case, but could you please attach the output
of the command:
$ FC_DEBUG=1 fc-match "Helvetica:Oblique"
It will give us some light about the reasons of the choice.
