Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gitg

I had a symlink to a folder under Git, decided to replace it with a directory
(with files) by the same name. Gitg crashed.
How to reproduce:

$ git init
$ mkdir directory
$ touch directory/file
$ ln -s directory symlink
$ git commit -a -m first
$ rm symlink
$ mkdir symlink
$ touch symlink/another-file
Then start Gitg, and in the Commit tab stage another-file for commiting. Crash.
