Quoting the attached VarLogDistupgradeTermlog.txt.gz:
> Byte-compiling add-on packages, please wait... failed.
> !! Byte-compilation for emacs22 failed!
> !! This indicates a bug in one of the add-on packages
> !! installed on your system, or a bug in Emacs itself.
> !! Please file a bug report against emacs22
> !! and attach the file /tmp/emacs22.8U56dL

This file is unlikely to exist on your system any longer (files in /tmp
are cleaned out on reboot), but if you can reproduce the problem and
attach the resulting file, we could investigate the issue.

The error message ends up being written to /var/log/apt/term.log and the
name of the temporary file is unique every time. You will need root
access to read the log file; look near the end of the file for an error
message like the one quoted above.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We do not always have
enough resources to sift through all bug reports in a timely manner.

I am setting the Status of your bug report to Incomplete to signal that
its progress is pending on input from you. Feel free to set the Status
back to New once you have supplied the requested information.

Thank you for your bug report and your patience.
