Re all,

Sorry for the delay.

I followed the steps written on this page :
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/MainlineBuilds?action=show&redirect=KernelMainlineBuilds
 :
 - Downloaded amd64 stuff on
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.32.11-lucid/ ( why? because
this page : http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/info/kernel-version-map.html
told me that, because my kernel is a "Linux Receps 2.6.32-22-generic #36-Ubuntu
SMP Thu Jun 3 19:31:57 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux", thus a "2.6.32-22.36", then
its mainline kernel is a "2.6.32.11+drm33.2" ).
 - installed it;
 - rebooted in order to test it (uname -a : "Linux Receps
2.6.32-02063211-generic #02063211 SMP Fri Jun 11 17:24:52 UTC 2010 x86_64
GNU/Linux");
 - plugged my iPhone (which didn't mount as I hoped it may have ^^");
 - tried "ubuntu-bug storage" (no fear) : it told me that my kernel wasn't an
official ubuntu kernel (like last time, when I tried on another mainline
kernel).

So : if I read it correctly, my iPhone doesn't mount, even on a mainline
kernel.

If the kernel on which I tested the behaviour wasn't a mainline kernel,
or if you find anything which I didn't do corrcetly to give you enough
feedback, please feel free to tell me, but in the mean time, tell me how
to give you the information you want, because I may have no clue as how
to do it ;)
