Alright..managed to fix it.. this is what it did:

1. Created a new wireless Adhoc connection in my phone..
2. Ubuntu was able to discover it but when i clicked on it..it wouldn't connect
3. So, sitting around..i clicked on " create new wireless network " ..and this
time it connected...and the problem didnt come..
4. so now basically first i created a connx from my phone which ubuntu
discovers but isnt able to connect to..but when i created a new connection from
the nm-applet gui..the connect disconnect problem didnt come..and im able to
use adhoc now..but on the new connection which i created in ubuntu...damn..what
a lame fix...
