** Description changed: I recently clean-installed Lucid on my Toshiba NB200 netbook as a dual boot with XP, using a bootable USB drive made with LiveUSB Creator. I previously had 9.10, no problems. However, now when I boot into Linux I get the above error and the computer drops to the BusyBox shell (initramfs). However, if I wait a while and type reboot the machine sometimes loads linux OK (albeit very slowly). booting in recovery mode makes no difference. Without quiet splash, the last line is: sd 2:0:0:0: [sda] Attached SCSI Disk it hangs here before dropping out. It seems not to be specific to a particular kernal version as if I select older kernals to boot from I have the same problem (versions 20-22). I tried the advice given here: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/bootinfoscript/index.php?title=Boot_Problems:search ..but to no avail. - I have tried reinstalling, with a freshly downloaded copy of Ubuntu - 10.04 , but again the same problem. + I have tried reinstalling, with a freshly downloaded copy of Ubuntu 10.04 , but again the same problem. + --- + AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21. + Architecture: i386 + ArecordDevices: + **** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices **** + card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC272 Analog [ALC272 Analog] + Subdevices: 1/1 + Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USER PID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC0: chris 1325 F.... pulseaudio + CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory + Card0.Amixer.info: + Card hw:0 'Intel'/'HDA Intel at 0xf0440000 irq 22' + Mixer name : 'Realtek ALC272' + Components : 'HDA:10ec0272,1179ff6e,00100001' + Controls : 16 + Simple ctrls : 8 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=db330907-1279-4b03-9339-9893072ce2b6 + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100429) + MachineType: TOSHIBA TOSHIBA NB200 + Package: linux (not installed) + ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-21-generic root=UUID=b0c8a80b-bc25-4be5-9de7-15502a348802 ro quiet splash + ProcEnviron: + LANG=en_ZA.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-21.32-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 + Regression: Yes + RelatedPackageVersions: linux-firmware 1.34 + Reproducible: Yes + RfKill: + 0: phy0: Wireless LAN + Soft blocked: no + Hard blocked: yes + Tags: lucid kconfig regression-release needs-upstream-testing + Uname: Linux 2.6.32-21-generic i686 + UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare + dmi.bios.date: 04/07/2009 + dmi.bios.vendor: TOSHIBA + dmi.bios.version: V1.20 + dmi.board.name: KAVAA + dmi.board.vendor: TOSHIBA + dmi.board.version: 1.00 + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: * + dmi.chassis.type: 10 + dmi.chassis.vendor: TOSHIBA + dmi.chassis.version: N/A + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnTOSHIBA:bvrV1.20:bd04/07/2009:svnTOSHIBA:pnTOSHIBANB200:pvrPLL20E-00U00JEN:rvnTOSHIBA:rnKAVAA:rvr1.00:cvnTOSHIBA:ct10:cvrN/A: + dmi.product.name: TOSHIBA NB200 + dmi.product.version: PLL20E-00U00JEN + dmi.sys.vendor: TOSHIBA ** Attachment added: "AlsaDevices.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/51102785/AlsaDevices.txt -- ALERT! /dev/disk ... does not exist. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/594523 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
